Pole barns are very valuable for building structures that are supported by poles. These structures are grounded in a solid way and the support is provided by the poles. The best part about these structures is that there is no requirement of walls, floors or base. Rather it is not compulsory to use floors or walls in a pole barn building, but if one likes to use them, he or she can definitely do so. A pole barn construction may include several aspects such as barn doors, sliding doors, Dutch doors, covered porches, skylights, etc. The dimension of pole burn buildings vary and the framing is done horizontally to the poles to make sure that the structure stays hard. The poles and frames of the pole barn buildings are developed with woods and sometimes metals are also used. For forming the roof, shingles or galvanized steel can be used.
Developing a pole burn is an outstanding alternative as it is easy to form and very economical also. The materials needed for these constructions cost very less. Some of the vital materials used for these pole barns are pressure-treated lumber poles, walls made up of plywood or steel, concrete for attaching the poles, stringers, purlin, roofing with galvanized steel or shingles, screw and nails, doors, etc. Apart from that, other valuable things that are needed for building pole barns are digging tools like hand digger, tractor powered auger; electric drill; hammer; hand saw; etc.
For constructing a pole barn, first you have to find the appropriate site. The site must be suitable as per the size of the construction. Now, chalk out the post holes and ensure that the corners of the construction are square. Dig the post holes and place the poles vertically. Take a look whether everything is in level or not and only when you are entirely convinced about the positioning, put concrete into the hole and make the structure solid.
After that, at the top of the poles, place the stringers horizontally over the poles. It is difficult to put the first truss and once it is completed, the other truces can be set easily. Now, purlins are to be diagonally placed towards the truss length. To cover up the section, you can put ins roof caps. Keep in mind that roofs made up of shingle or plywood takes long time to get completed and appropriate dimensions are to be taken to keep away from any unnecessary delay in the process of building pole burn.
If you need installing the walls, then you have to place girts in the whole structure in completely leveled manner. Make numerous rows and attach the grits to the posts with nails. Then by using plywood or metal sheets as you prefer and fix on the wall, but do keep place for doors and windows.
This is how pole barns can be constructed. This was an example of simple pole barn construction, but overall the process is inexpensive and takes short time.
